ARSENAL will play Rennes in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Unai Emery’s side were paired against the French club in the draw this afternoon (Friday) in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Gunners continued their quest to win the tournament – and the place in next season’s Champions League that comes with it – on Thursday courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate win over BATE Borisov.
Speaking after the victory at the Emirates Stadium, Emery, who has previously won the Europa League three years in succession with former club Sevilla, said he believes his new squad is “one of six” sides who can get their hands on the silverware this season.
“We can win. Maybe if we can say there are six teams that can win it, one is Arsenal. But it’s very difficult,” he said. “A lot of teams want the same thing.
“We need to feel stronger in this competition, and create this atmosphere around us.”
Arsenal were drawn to play at home in their first leg, which will take place on March 7. The return ties will then be held on March 14.
