At The Heath & Hampstead Society we did what we could

30 July, 2020

Hampstead Heath ponds

• GILL Arnold insultingly accuses the society of selling its values by allowing the new compulsory charges for Heath swimming, (Now that we’re to pay for swimming…, July 23).

The publicly documented and relevant facts are:

(i) the society opposed compulsory charging and persuaded the Hampstead Heath Consultative Committee to recommend against it, and

(ii) the society’s representative on the Hampstead Heath Management Committee was the only representative to oppose that committee’s decision to introduce compulsory charging.

We did what we could.

Chair, The Heath & Hampstead Society
