• WITH all that’s going on I was loath to add to the burden reporting a busted lock. I expected to wait a long time for help. But Camden Council workers reacted with speed and within two hours “Big Jack” was at my door.

Slim, at least 6ft 3ins tall and with a hearty smile beneath his mask, Jack, a master carpenter, lugged a heavy toolbag. Having inspected the damage he left, explaining he planned to return within 20 minutes.

Jack, a father of one who lives in Barnet, did better than that. Back soon after with a new lock which he fitted in the blink of an eye, as I looked on admiringly, he gathered his bag and was off.

What a star for all and what an asset to our council’s works department. Thanks again.
