Blond fury: PM protest
30 July, 2019
THERE was a Glastonbury-style buzz in Russell Square on Wednesday night as hundreds of people packed into the park to protest against the new prime minister.
The F**k Boris protest boasted blond wigs, camp outfits and a host of graphic signs. Most said: “Not my type of BJ.”
The march was led by a red London open-top bus that blasted music across the protest, keeping spirits up with chants of “No to Islamophobia, “No to war” and “No to racism” – and bursts of applause.
The crowd had done their research with many placards stating that Boris Johnson had only been appointed prime minister by 0.13 per cent of the population.
The Lesbians and Gay Support the Migrants group blasted out Abba hits on a speaker.
Shadow chancellor John McDonnell told the protest: “Do not fall for his buffoonery, he is dangerous. He has already supported every austerity measure of the last 10 years, which has cost many disabled people their lives.
“Do not look on today as the first day of Boris. Look on today as the first day of resistance against Boris Johnson.”
