Bus collision course

Bus seat in a cycle lane in Prince of Wales Road

THE controversial cycle lanes that are now running along each side of Prince of Wales Road, Kentish Town, are getting stranger and stranger.

Somehow the designers of the scheme, faced with the problem of how to fit in a bus stop along the path of the cycle lane, came up with the bright idea that as there was nowhere else to put it, it would have to be put in the middle of a cycle lane.

My picture shows a bus seat at the bus stop actually in the cycle lane itself. How passengers would get on or off a bus while cycles are whizzing among them, I don’t know. The weird bus stop, installed a week ago, was still in place on Tuesday evening.
