Camden’s juniors shine in the Mini Marathon

The Under-17s boys squad who placed Camden fifth out of the capital’s 33 boroughs

TEAM Camden showed off the running power that the borough has at its disposal on Sunday when a squad of 32 athletes took part in this year’s Mini Marathon.

Camden’s Under-17s girls team

The youngsters, who are managed by Ben Dorsett from Camden Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Service in partnership with Highgate Harriers Athletics Club, tackled the last three miles of the main marathon, starting at Old Billingsgate Market, and running along the Embankment before finishing up at Buckingham Palace and the Mall.

The Under-17s boys squad of Charlie Everest, Austin Harris, Isaac Adni, Tal Pelmont and Syd Gooding recorded Camden’s best team result on the day, finishing fifth out of the 33 London boroughs.

The Under-15s girls team

Camden’s highest placed individual display of the day went to Oliver Haddad, who took fifth place in the boys Under-15s race out of 171 finishers.

Highgate coach Graham Norris said: “It’s great to see the look on all of the young people’s faces when they cross the finish line.

“It is a great opportunity for them to be involved in such an exciting event, they should all be very proud of themselves.”
