Celebrate the NHS’s 72nd birthday
02 July, 2020
Happy 72nd birthday to the NHS
• ON Sunday our NHS will be 72 years old and we hope that you will join us in celebrating.
Our NHS and the people who work for it have been through an extremely challenging four months since the beginning of the pandemic.
It has also suffered massively since the Tories won the election in coalition with the LibDems in 2010.
In 10 years the Tories cut 10,000 beds, radically cut mental health services for children and adults and sold off and outsourced large chunks of the NHS to their friends like Branson and Sodexo in the private sector.
Privateers continue to reap fortunes out of our health moneys, exploiting the Covid disaster, running expensive and failed schemes like the test track and trace and the app.
We agree with health experts who have argued throughout that the testing and tracking should be run by the NHS from local clinics and laboratories.
We are committed to trying to fight for a fully-funded, publicly-run, publicly-owned NHS that is free for all, including migrants, at the point of delivery.
So we hope you will celebrate with street parties, or outside your local NHS clinic, etc.
Do post any pictures of your celebrations onto our Defend the Whittington Hospital Facebook page or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org – have fun!
And do stay safe and well.
