MORE than 150 children were sent charging around the Emirates stadium as part of a fundraising event parents organised for their primary school.

The St John’s Highbury Vale CE Primary School pupils were joined by their teachers and Arsenal’s official mascot Gunnersaurus to run the two kilometres.

The run, which has raised more than £10,000 so far, was organised by parents who were concerned about government cuts to school funding.

Alexandra Holden, who has nine-year-old twins at the school, said: “We are hoping this money can help fund extracurricular activities like trips and speakers at assemblies.

“All schools have been hit by funding cuts and St John’s is no different.

“St John’s is a brilliant school, but it’s inevitable that they have to focus on core subjects.”
