Mags O’Reilly with Labour councillor Richard Cotton
• CONGRATULATIONS to the Camden New Journal on winning Campaign of the Year for saving Kentish Town City Farm and to Dan Carrier the Judges’ special award for running the CNJ food aid van during lockdown, (Amid the toughest of times, a hat-trick of top gongs for your paper at UK press awards, June 25).
I also thank Mags O’Reilly and her team of volunteers working for the Highgate Newtown Community Response Team, who have delivered food or shopped for those who are elderly, self-isolating or shielding or have problems with benefit money.
I would also like to thank your writer Jane Clinton who has helped me with shopping.
I understand that Community Investment Levy money was given by Camden as grants to enable the work to be carried out at community centres and food banks. This was a very good use for it.
I hope, as does Mags, (Virus highlights existing inequalities, Forum, June 25), that as a result of the pandemic society will change and be fairer.
