Coronavirus: Weekly update from Camden Council leader Georgia Gould

18 February, 2021 — By Cllr Georgia Gould

I would like to thank all Camden residents for the tremendous sacrifices you have made to follow the rules. As a result of a powerful collective effort, Camden now has the lowest rates of COVID-19 since October.

This has been a long, dark winter where we have all struggled with the restrictions and we can’t underestimate what it’s taken to get here.

There is hope ahead but please do continue to follow the guidance because I know none of us want all of this pain and loss to be repeated. Cases are still too high and we need to keep working together to make sure that we don’t go backwards.

I know many of us will have been shocked and saddened to hear that a resident was killed in Camden this week and our thoughts go out to everyone impacted by this violence. We are working closely with the police to make sure there is extra support in place for communities at this time.

We know that many will be worried about reports across London of an increase in violence affecting young people, and the Council continues to be absolutely committed to youth safety.

If you are a parent or a young person worried about safety then please get in touch either with the police or the Council using the details below.

Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council
