Coronavirus: Weekly update from council leader Georgia Gould

PUBLIC INFORMATION PAGES FROM CAMDEN COUNCIL

03 September, 2020 — By Cllr Georgia Gould

PUBLIC INFORMATION PAGES FROM CAMDEN COUNCIL

This unsettling time has reinforced just how important schools are for our children and young people, not only for their education but for their mental health and social and physical wellbeing – so it’s great news that schools will be welcoming back all pupils this month.

However, as pupils return, we understand this will continue to be a tough time, and that staff and families will share concerns about how schools will maintain a safe environment.

I’d like to reassure you that Camden Learning, a partnership between local schools and the Council, and Public Heath have been working to support schools with their preparations to welcome back pupils to an environment where they feel safe. This includes careful planning, rigorous risk assessments and supporting families and staff in every way we can.

With the new academic year starting, I’d like to wish all students the best of luck with their studies and reiterate my thanks to our teachers and staff who have worked tirelessly to support their communities throughout this time.

Councillor Georgia Gould, Leader of Camden Council
