Members advised to download books through the mobile phone app ‘Libby’

Libraries in Swiss Cottage, Holborn and Pancras Square remained open this morning – but all others in Camden have shut down today (Friday).

At West Hampstead Library, at the Dennington Road junction with West End Lane, members have been advised to continue to download e-books through Libby, a mobile phone app.

David Stephenson, chairman of Friends of West Hampstead Library (FoWHL), said: “The Covid-19 outbreak means that activities which normally take place in the Library, such as Rhyme Tyme and FoWHL FM, are suspended.

“Our next planned event, ‘The Golden Age of Camden Housing’ with Fabian Watkinson on May 20, is highly unlikely to take place.

A Camden Council statement said: “We are continuing to keep our three largest libraries – Swiss Cottage, Pancras Square and Holborn – open, maintaining their normal opening times. All other libraries will be closed until further notice. We will continue to review government advice and will update residents if further changes need to be made.”
