Cycling confusion

29 October, 2020 — By John Gulliver

A BUS stop remained in full glory this week – as this picture shows – in the middle of the new cycle lane in Prince of Wales Road, Kentish Town. Whoever designed the controversial lane will no doubt re-arrange the street furniture one day.

Meanwhile, just a few hundred yards away is the busy junction linking Castlehaven Road, Grafton Road and Prince of Wales Road which, naturally, is attracting more and more cyclists – and it was somewhere near this junction that Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer pranged a cyclist on Sunday.

This is a busy junction as more and more cyclists use the new lane and while nothing directly links the accident with the changes made in Prince of Wales Road, the new scheme must be bringing red faces to Labour cycling campaigners who pioneered it in view of their leader’s mishap.
