THE hunt for silverware will reach fever pitch on Saturday when scores of youngsters from across Camden and Islington take part in a thrilling day of cup finals and title deciders.

Players and nervous fans will all be hoping that they will be the ones cheering when the final whistle blows, and emulating the wild scenes of celebration seen at the weekend when the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League held their first batch of cup finals.

Hotshot George Barnett made sure that Daryl’s Dragons FC were among the teams dancing around in triumph on Saturday when he earned his side the win against rivals London Soccer Stars in the first Under-8s League Cup final of the day.

London Soccer Stars had better luck against Jolof Sports Club

Both teams hit the woodwork in normal time before the pulsating cup clash went to extra time.

With penalties looming, young George swung the contest in the Dragons favour as he struck twice to seal a 2-0 victory. “It was a day which has gone down in the club’s history,” said delighted manager Daryl Moore. “I have never been more proud to see our players hold up their trophy.”

Muswell Hill Under-10s celebrate

The players from London Soccer Stars still had plenty of reason to celebrate, especially after their Red team ran out 2-0 winners against Jolof Sports Club in the second of the Under-8s League Cup finals.

In the Under-10s League Cup final, Harry Collins kept his nerve to score the winning penalty as Muswell Hill beat Pro Touch Soccer Academy 3-2 in a nail-biting shootout. Defender Caspar Gower couldn’t hide his delight as Hanad Hussein from the Royal Parks (pictured left) presented the Muswell Hill players with their cup, which was sponsored by the London Trophy Company.
