Sir Keir Starmer meets pupils at LSU – in between interviews about Brexit
ON the day the UK finally signed the papers confirming it wanted to leave the European Union, Labour’s Brexit spokesman Sir Keir Starmer, pictured above, still found time to honour a long-standing engagement to meet school pupils in Highgate.
The Holborn and St Pancras MP visited La Sainte Union yesterday (Wednesday) before heading to Parliament. He had already given 15 interviews beforehand, including a 6am appearance on ITV, before arriving for the school’s Year 9’s politics show. Mr Starmer spoke of how he had trained as a lawyer, worked as a QC and then entered politics.
He also went through his last seven days to reveal how his work focused on local, national and international politics while saying he was inspired by fighting for social justice for all.
And the pupils were not afraid to ask a question many want to know the answer to: “‘Do you want to be the next prime minister?”, came from the floor. Mr Starmer replied: “I want the next PM to be Labour.”
