English Touring Opera is launching its 2018 touring season of three productions at the Hackney Empire next week.
The opener on Thursday (February 23) is Rossini Fireworks!, a concert of highlights from composer’s greatest operas – his serious ones! These include scenes from his Otello, La donna del lago, Maometto II, Elisabetta and Ermione.
The following week are two other ETO offerings: A new production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro is being performed on Wednesday February 28, and Saturday March 3. It’s being directed by Blanche McIntyre.
Then, on Friday March 2, there’s a revival of the ETO’s much-acclaimed 2011 production of Puccini’s one-act operas Il tabarro and Gianni Schicchi.
