Eric Gordon film project
19 November, 2021
Eric Gordon, founding editor of the Camden New Journal
• CHRIS Reeves of Platform Films outlined our plans for a film to commemorate the life of Eric Gordon, founder and editor of the Camden New Journal, in his letter of October 14.
We, the Eric Gordon Film Group, continue to make progress with the project, to which readers can subscribe.
Together with Chris Reeves, (producer / director), I have interviewed a number of Eric’s family, friends, colleagues and associates. They have expressed a wide range of often contradictory opinions of Eric’s politics and views of life.
He was clearly a man of many parts. However, one thing remains clear throughout, namely his commitment to Camden and its people.
As editor of the CNJ he sought not only to report the news with painstaking accuracy, but also to provide a voice to the powerless in their struggles with those who hold the reins of power in the borough.
We hope our film will be a fitting tribute to this extraordinary man and his life’s work.
To reach our goal we continue to require funds to complete the project and have recently launched a crowd-funding appeal on the following link: gofundme.com/film-eric-gordon-cnj
Donations can also be sent by bank transfer to Platform Films, HSBC, a/c name Platform Films, sort code: 40-04-07, a/c no: 61042769. Cheques can be sent to Platform Films, Marx Memorial Library, 37a Clerkenwell Green, EC1R ODU.
We thank those who have already donated and look forward to hearing from new donors. All donors will be credited in the final film.
