Everybody stops to look at the Christmas lights in Hillway
Organisers collect donations for charity
03 December, 2020 — By Dan Carrier
WHEN Highgate’s ‘Mr Christmas’ flicks the switch inside the hallway of his home in Hillway, everyone in the neighbourhood knows the festive season has really begun.
This year, Anthony South, the man behind one of Camden’s best known how Christmas lights display, is asking admirers who love the illuminated decorations to do a good turn for others too.
For the first time in a decade of bright lights, the family are collecting donations for three charities for causes close to their neighbours’ hearts.
Lotta, 11, who lives nearby, had a condition called Retts Syndrome, which affects speech and mobility, and funds raised will go towards research into groundbreaking gene therapy.
Gibson, 16, another neighbour who enjoys the show, has Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (PMS), affecting his communication, mobility and cognitive development. The PMSF UK charity provide support.
And another tranche of any donations will be given to Highgate Newtown-based not for profit group, Wood That Works, which provides free wood working sessions with craftsman Ricky Jefferson.
