THERE were sighs of relief on Monday night as players from the Golden Lion pub in Camden Town finally ended on the right side of a final frame decider to pocket only their second win of the season.
Aaron Gourlay’s squad went into their latest fixture in Division Two of the Chalk Farm Pool League off the back of a run of agonising defeats – losing their previous three matches 5-4 in the final frame.

The game against King’s Cross Invaders, which was played at the Hurricane Room in King’s Cross, proved another close affair. But this time it was the Lions roaring as the final black disappeared into the pocket after Alex Stockl was coolness personified to take advantage of the two shots he was given when his opponent, Matthew Doherty, failed to escape from a testing snooker. The 5-4 victory leaves Golden Lion third from bottom, but finally starting to look up the league table instead of down it.
