Get Aldi or Lidl to help with station reopening

17 March, 2017

• THE funding for the reopening of Tufnell Park station can come from a separate source and is available.

The Lea Bridge station in Leyton availed of it.

The case for Junction Road is overwhelming and if both councils, the passenger group, MPs and, say, Aldi or Lidl lobbied, this could be up and running by 2019.

The need for a user-friendly click and collect, a renewed link to Kentish Town for Thameslink speak for themselves.

A reinstatement of the link, even if initially by shuttle service would take seven minutes. That’s far quicker than taking the tube from Tufnell Park and changing at King’s Cross for Thameslink.

A soon-to-be-replaced diesel unit could be retained to provide the service until viability was confirmed.

The fact Camden Town and Finsbury Park are both due for major disruption during renovation is an added necessity to ensure, that all measures are considered.

The link at Archway to Upper Holloway is both treacherous and inferior.

Let’s hope the councils can set up a joint working group next month and get this done. Planning should be straightforward, you’re just reinstating a station.
