A SCHOOL has officially opened its new building in Camden Town after moving out of its former home of 100 years.

Hawley Primary School was provided with a state-of-the-art school in Hawley Road as part of the Camden Lock development. Council leader Georgia Gould helped unveil the plaque with headteacher Anne Fontaine last Wednesday.

At its former site in Buck Street, the school could not provide junior school places but it is now an “all-through” school taking pupils up to their secondary transfer.

Ms Fontaine, who has been Hawley’s headteacher for 17 years, said: “Our older pupils are enjoying being in Year 4 now and they will be our first Year 6 class. It is lovely to be growing into an all-through primary school and seeing the children progress with us instead of leaving at age seven.”
