How do we get the foxes to listen on food waste?

20 June, 2019

The foxes simply won’t listen

• WE would be most grateful if your letter writer Hilary Paterson (Don’t make the food in bags mistake, June 13) would visit Dartmouth Park Road and explain to our local foxes that they are not supposed to know how to “unlock” our brown food waste bin and mustn’t do it. I have watched them do it and tried to remonstrate with them but they simply will not listen to me.

All our food waste is in compostable bags, we put the bags into the caddy at 3am before the collection later in the morning, sometimes frozen. But last Thursday, for example, a fox unlocked the caddy, opened the bags, spread the food waste around and then added to the delight by being sick.
