A CAT has become a local celebrity around Mornington Crescent for yowling at passers-by as they snap photographs of the striking feline for their Instagram pages.

The chocolate Persian, named Argo, is also well known by people walking past the HS2 construction site where his owner says “he knows everyone”.

The eight-year-old’s favourite spot is sitting in Hampstead Road where he “screams” at passers-by in the hope of a pat on the head.

Owner Katie, who did not want to give her full name, said: “He sits there every day and shouts at people. It’s his spot and that’s where he gets the attention. He is always harassing and screaming at people, he’s like The Exorcist. But he is a total diva, he just wants a cuddle. He is a local celeb.”

He regular appears on social media as people cannot resist taking his photo and he is particularly popular with the staff at fashion retailers Asos which is based in . . . the black cat building, Greater London House.

Katie said his favourite food is crushed-up vegetable samosas.

She said: “He is the nicest cat in the world. He has a kind of healing sense to him when people stay around the house – he has a sixth sense for people having problems. “And he is also super intelligent – he can open cupboards and he is also starting to understand how to open windows,” she added.
