Invincibles! ‘Lockdown helped unbeaten Tufnell Park gel’

THE frustrations sparked by a stop-start season only served to bring one team of “Invincibles” even closer together.
Tufnell Park Football School’s Under-13s girls’ team have brought the curtain down on a memorable campaign in the Regent’s Park Youth League. They ended the season unbeaten, boasting nine wins and two draws from 11 games.
Explaining the secrets of their success, manager Patrick Connaghan said the pauses to play during the pandemic only made his side hungrier.
“The breaks during lockdown brought the girls even closer together,” he said. “They really missed each other, and missed being able to play football, and that helped them gel even more.”
To mark the girls’ success their Tufnell Park coaches not only presented them with a trophy, but also special T-shirts with “U-13s Invincibles” printed on them, along with the team’s results.
“To see how far the girls have come as a team is incredible,” added Patrick.
“They lost their first competitive game together four years ago 22-0, and lost their second 16-0. To get to where they are now, and finish the season unbeaten, is just unbelievable.”
