Islington’s political map to be redrawn

Cllr Richard Watts, Leader of Islington Council
THE political face of the borough is set to change after a consultation into new ward boundaries was launched this week.
The independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England is asking people across Islington to comment on its draft proposals which would mean changes to all but two wards.
The proposals mean there will be three more councillors, while St Mary’s ward will become “Central” and St George’s will be replaced by Tufnell Park.
The public have until October 7 to comment.
Cllr Richard Watts, Leader of Islington Council, said: “It’s been 20 years since Islington’s ward boundaries have been reviewed, and it’s important that wards reflect the changes to the borough that have happened in that time and that we know are likely to happen in the near future.”
