Join the debate on the future in Camden
01 December, 2017
Cllr Georgia Gould
• WE want everyone in Camden to be part of shaping the future of the borough.
As a community we face some big challenges. People are telling us they are worried about finding genuinely affordable housing, the safety of their homes, streets and estates and the toxicity of the air they are breathing. And they are worried about keeping the open, mixed spirit of Camden alive through Brexit and cuts to public services.
The levels of inequality we face are not only a threat to social justice but also to basic social cohesion. But Camden has always had a rebellious spirit. We aren’t a place to just to roll over and accept the future that is handed to us.
We have citizens who agitate, protest, volunteer (write letters to our local paper!) and get involved in working for a better place. We want to draw on all this collective energy to make sure we keep what is special about Camden thriving.
To do this we will need the ideas of every part of our community and all the different perspectives in our borough.
You can join the debate started by the Camden Citizens’ Assembly and find out about upcoming events at www.camden.gov.uk/camden2025, by tweeting us with #camden2025, popping into your local Camden library to add to our comment boards, or by filling in and returning the Freepost postcard that will shortly be arriving through your door.
We want your help to come up with a plan for the future that belongs to the people of Camden.
