JUNIOR boxing prospect Bernard Mulvill proved a big hit on Thursday when he was voted the best home fighter of the night at St Pancras ABC’s popular dinner show, held at the London Irish Centre in Camden Town.
The 13-year-old showed all his skills and ring-craft as he gained a split decision victory over Trumpington Boxing Club’s Jake Thurston following three tough rounds. There were also good wins for senior fighters Nestor Correa and Sherifden Lawal as the Saints ended the night level with three wins and three defeats.
Coach “Big” Lewis Fattahi said: “Bernard and Nestor were the stars of the show, both fighters showed experience beyond their years. Jernair Thomas was also involved in a very close fight as he narrowly lost on a split decision against Courtney Frimpong from Evolve Boxing. “For me, he won the fight, but it was Frimpong’s arm that was raised in victory. That’s how it goes in boxing sometimes.”
