Let’s have a commitment, Peabody

10 July, 2020

• I HAVE noted Peabody’s project director Aoife Conacur’s comments on the private sale of homes they own in Islington, stating the intention to use these funds for reinvestment in housing.

If this is the case, in the interest of transparency, would Peabody commit to direct any funds gathered from private sales of homes in Islington to the Holloway Prison site for the purpose of increasing the social rent homes they plan to build?

Building social housing is the only way the housing crisis will be solved. It would be a reassuring statement of intent from one of the housing sector’s pioneers to show that a route other than so-called “affordable rents”, is possible.
