Makeshift ‘drug lab’ hidden among trees on Hampstead Heath

Officers found "substances believed to be used in the manufacture of controlled drugs”

Police are investigating after a suspected drugs lab was found on Hampstead Heath.

The site, near East Heath Road, has been locked down by police since the discovery was made on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they found a number of containers concealed in a wooded area.

Scotland Yard said they were investigating “after a suspected drugs-lab was discovered”.

In a statement, the Met said: “Cordons were put in place and the area was subjected to a search by specially trained officers.

“The material recovered has now been assessed and is believed to be substances used in the manufacture of controlled drugs.”
