The attacks had caused "concern to the local community”

A 65-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of assaults on women in Hampstead and Belsize Park.
Police appealed for the whereabouts of the man last week after eight attacks on women, including a Royal Free Hospital nurse, were carried out between November last year and January.
The “aggressive” incidents often included the man approaching lone women, verbally abusing them and in some cases punching them.
In most of the cases the man produced a weapon, believed to be a metal spanner, and used it to threaten the women.
A detective with the Central North Command Unit, Zoe Di Carlo, charged with leading the investigation said that: “While no one has been seriously hurt, these incidents will understandably cause concern to the local community.”
Officers yesterday (Sunday) arrested a man on suspicion of public order offences at a house in Camden.
He was taken into custody and was further arrested for a number of assault charges and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
