Miedema hits double as Arsenal win at Reading

THE Royals became the latest team left bamboozled by Vivianne Miedema’s brilliance as Arsenal recorded a routine victory away at Reading on Sunday in the Women’s Super League.
It was a case of double Dutch at Adams Park with the Netherlands striker bagging a brace to bring her tally up to 24 goals in just 14 starts this season. However, on this occasion Miedema’s two-goal salvo was overshadowed by a sublime strike by Gunners skipper Kim Little.
The Scotland midfielder combined with Leah Williamson and Jordan Nobbs on the edge of the area, before controlling the ball on her chest and guiding a stunning volley into the top corner.
The 3-0 win leaves Arsenal top of the table, two points clear of Chelsea, who have a game in hand over their London rivals.
The Blues, who are managed by Camden-born coach Emma Hayes, also came from behind to maintain their title challenge with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City thanks to goals from Beth England and Maren Mjelde.
