Momentum members in Holborn and St Pancras insist Jeremy Corbyn is a vote winner

Labour leader's supporters say his policies have not been given a fair hearing by the press

15 May, 2017 — By Richard Osley

MOMENTUM activists insisted that Jeremy Corbyn was a vote winner – rather than an electoral turn-off – as they campaigned in Keir Starmer’s Holborn and St Pancras constituency.

Conservative rivals have persistently targeted Mr Corbyn in their campaign literature as they believe he could be leading the party to meltdown.

But, raising placards and dealing out leaflets to people coming home in Kentish Town on Monday evening, supporters said he could win next month’s general election if his policies were given a wider airing.

They claimed there had been media reluctance to report his support for building more social housing and warding off privatisation in the NHS, and that the party should not water down his pledges in their final manifesto. Momentum was set up for Labour members wanting to secure Mr Corbyn’s position as Labour leader.
