NORTH Middlesex could be crowned Premier Division champions this weekend if they topple Teddington at home and Crouch End lose their penultimate match of the season away to Richmond.
North Midd won a rain-interrupted match against Hampstead by 51 runs on Saturday, courtesy of the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
The result leaves Joel Hughes’s side seven points clear of Crouch End at the top of the Middlesex County League with two games to go. Third-placed Teddington are also still very much in the hunt, and could go top if they beat North Midd this Saturday at their Park Road ground.
James Parslow was instrumental in North Midd’s 10-point win over Hampstead at the weekend as he hit 65 runs off 86 balls. Hassan Khan also chipped in with 31 as the home side scored 178-8 off 35.5 overs.
Hampstead skipper Callum Jackson scored an unbeaten 85 off 71 balls in a knock that included five fours and four sixes. But he was denied any real support at the crease thanks to the efforts of Will Vanderspar, who took three wickets at the expense of 15 runs, including Hampstead openers Beckham Wheeler-Greenall and Mubasher Hassan.
Khan (2-20) and Uzair Amjaid (2-33) also picked up two wickets each as Hampstead ended their 26-over innings on 129-9.
