NORTH Middlesex made it two wins on the spin on Saturday with a mighty 148-run victory over Southgate in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League.
Tom Nicoll’s side recovered from a shaky start at their Park Road ground which saw opener Connor Nurse bowled by Rashid Mullahzadah without scoring.
A more steady showing from fellow opener Rob Fahrenheim settled the nerves as he took North Midd past 80 before being caught by Ashley Sivarajah off the bowling of Michael Stevens one run short of his half-century.
But a big knock was still needed if the home side were to post a good target. It came via Luke Hollman who scored 73 off 114 balls as North Midd climbed to 220-9 before declaring after 60 overs.
Struggling Southgate’s reply lasted just 26 overs before they were bowled out for just 72 runs.
Joel Hughes removed the openers as he took two wickets at the expense of 21 runs, while Ethan Bamber (3-14), and Adam Price (4-13) also put in commanding bowling displays.
Meanwhile, Hampstead lost by 206 runs in their home match against league leaders Ealing.
