Oscar Wilde and Lord Alfred Douglas in 1893

• I JUST wish to add my commendation at the excellent and entertaining piece on Lord Alfred Douglas, aristocratic paramour of Oscar Wilde and vituperative litigant throughout the early decades of the last century, (Bard boy, Review, June 28) adapted from Neil Titley’s book The Oscar Wilde World of Gossip.

But I must mention the minor factual error regarding his death, which took place in 1945 not 1944. David Lloyd George’s obituary took precedence over his in The Times.
