A PRIME spot in Camden Town held by the Maplin electronics shop is set to be converted into an ‘oriental supermarket’.
The Longdan group has asked for a new alcohol licence for the double-sized unit in Parkway. It already has successful branches in Shoreditch, Hoxton and Elephant & Castle.
Maplin has staged an ‘everything must go’ closing down sale in Camden Town since the company announced it was shutting stores across the country in March.
The company said as it went into administration: “The business has worked hard over recent months to mitigate a combination of impacts from sterling devaluation post Brexit, a weak consumer environment and the withdrawal of credit insurance.”
