Pianist Yuja Want gives a solo recital on June 5
• Friday, June 1: Mahler’s seventh and most celebrated symphony performed by the Bavarian State Orchestra conducted by Kirill Petrenko. The Bavarian has quietly, yet inarguably, morphed into one of the world’s finest orchestras under Petrenko’s guidance (7.30pm, from £15).
• Sunday, June 3 and Sunday, June 24: Two contrasting programmes performed by the London Symphony Orchestra under Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda. The first involves fantastical narratives and visions from Beethoven, Ravel and Mussorgsky (June 3, 7pm), the second features Shostakovich works composed either side of Stalin’s death.
• Tuesday, June 5: Brilliant pianist Yuja Wang takes to the Barbican stage for a solo recital (7.30pm, from £10).
• Friday, June 15-Sunday, June 17: JS Bach weekend specially curated by Sir John Eliot Gardiner – Bach’s violin sonatas, cello suites, Goldberg Variations and glorious cantatas.
