Police investigate Queen’s Crescent ‘shooting’ as man is taken to hospital

A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital

A MAN in his 30s has been taken to hospital after a suspected shooting near Queen’s Crescent.

Emergency services descended on the scene outside the community centre at around 7.40 pm on Monday.

Several paramedics treated the man on the roadside near Queen’s Crescent Community Centre before taking him to hospital.

His condition was later described as non-life threatening.

According to one eye-witness, the incident was a drive by shooting.

Chris Atkins witnessed the air ambulance land in playing courts near his flat.

Mr Atkins said: “There was a cordon already up. Police everywhere. Lots of youths were hanging round.”

Police cordons have been placed around the crime scene while enquiries into the circumstances of the shooting are carried out.

Witnesses or those with information are asked to call 101 stating reference number CAD 6524/27 Apr.
