The stash of stolen bicycles
A STASH of stolen bicycles found in Camden Town has left police with the task of reuniting them with their owners. Officers made the discovery when looking in the back of a van last week. The haul includes 24 bikes and three scooters, two of which are electric.
A detective has been given the job of returning the bikes to their owners, but Camden Police warned that due to the high number recovered: “This may take some time as we forensically examine them.”
A man was taken into custody and interviewed but has since been released under investigation.
After tweeting a picture of the discovery, the Camden Police account was inundated with messages from members of the public desperately asking if their lost bike was among the ones found.
Many even accompanied their tweet with a picture of the bike taken in the hope it would speed up the process.
These included adult racing bikes, brand new road bikes and even children’s bikes, one was said to have been pinched during the first lockdown. Police have advised people to wait to be contacted by detectives
