Police are guarding the crime scene at the junction with Brecknock Road

A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a 25-year-old man found suffering a stab wound in Tunfell Park last night.

Police were called to Corrine Road, near the junction with Brecknock Road, shortly before 9:30pm on Tuesday.

Members of the public rushed to the victim’s aid and dialled 999

One witness said: “I saw a young man running away holding what looked like a knife.”

Officers, who witnesses said had arrived at the scene within a few minutes, delivered first aid at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:07pm.

Scotland Yard said this morning that the murder detectives were investigating the death.

His next of kin have been informed, but formal identification has yet to take place, police said.

Police swept the area with a sniffer dog on Tuesday night

Brecknock Road was closed in both directions last night, with a police forensics tent erected on the corner of Corinne Road.

Officers swept the area, with a sniffer dog looking in gardens and bushes, while the police helicopter flew over head a short distance away.

The Met said in a statement: “Extra police will be in the area and a number of enquiries including the recovery of local CCTV footage, forensic analysis and appeals for information from the public are ongoing.”

There have been no arrests.
