Priority for pedestrians

07 February, 2019

• MANY Kentish Town residents have been in touch sharing concerns about proposed changes to crossings on Kentish Town Road.

This proposal involves the removal of key crossings at the junction with Prince of Wales Road and the crossing nearest Lidl, by Anglers Lane. The scheme sees only one crossing being replaced.

While it is always challenging to balance different traffic scheme demands, Camden’s clear policy is give priority for pedestrians over other road users.

These crossings are well used, by the elderly, disabled and young children, for whom a longer walk from the existing one by Lidl to the more southerly crossing is a significant inconvenience. If this crossing is removed, some may chance their luck crossing a busy road.

A final decision is due in March, so it is not too late to make changes to this scheme. I support reinstating a second, important, pedestrian crossing.
