Record of the week: No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish, by Skinny Pelembe

30 May, 2019 — By Róisín Gadelrab

SKINNY Pelembe’s slow-burn single, No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish, has been doing the rounds for a little while, but it’s a perfect example of the genius of the Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised, multi-talented and yet humble artist whose debut album, Dreaming Is Dead Now, was released last week. The layered, simmering instrumentals and incendiary lyrics combine to create something of real promise from someone who deserves attention.
