Mastermind Micky Dowsett greets the youngsters before turning on the skills in his coaching session

COACH Micky Dowsett “absolutely loved being back on one of his old stomping grounds” on Saturday when he returned to kick-start a Reddot revolution at the UCL Academy in Swiss Cottage.

Reddot were a dominant force in the Camden Sunday League for more than 10 years before the club folded in 2012. We revealed last week how former player-manager Micky is now turning to kids from across Camden and Islington to help “build a new breed of talented footballers”.

Micky, who will travel down from Ipswich every Saturday morning to take charge of the academy, said if the launch was anything to go by, the project was going to be a tremendous success.

“We had a great turn-out for the opening session, and hopefully we’ll see even more new faces this Saturday,” he said. “All the children really enjoyed themselves. We worked on all the key aspects of the game and overall team play. It was great fun.”

• The Reddot Academy is open to boys and girls aged three to 12 and runs from 1pm to 4pm. Call The Winch on 020 7586 8731 for more details.
