Some journeys matter less than others… people have been let down by the mayor and TfL

Labour Mayor of London Sadiq Khan

• THE Labour Mayor of London has let us down – some journeys matter less than others!

It was with huge disappointment that those of us in West Hampstead who have been campaigning for many years for a fully accessible interchange, will have read the latest announcement by Labour Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Transport for London that money has been released for improving access to London’s tube stations, but not, sadly, at West Hampstead.

The northern end of the Jubilee line is in stark contrast to the new accessible southern section. In West Hampstead, our nearest lift is Kilburn. This affects those who are elderly, in a wheelchair, have small children in pushchairs, heavy luggage or just generally find steps difficult. This is quite a large number of people to ignore!

Accessibility is not a social service provision, it should be a transport right. And Sadiq Khan and TfL have steam-rollered over it. We will not forget.
