A SERIES of murals have been painted on a community garden cabin, featuring plants representing the four seasons.

Artist Alba Bernal painted tulips for spring, sunflowers for summer, mushrooms for autumn, and thistles for winter, on the side of the Sunnyside Community Gardens cabin in Hazellville Road, Upper Holloway. Animals also feature in the mural with a frog peeping from behind a mushroom, and a heron in flight against a bright red sun.

Ms Bernal said: “I’ve seen the volunteers work so hard throughout the year to keep the garden beautiful. The cabin has always struck me as a bit drab and not in keeping with the rest of the garden.”

She added: “As a professional mural artist I felt I could make a difference by painting it to reflect back the beauty of the garden”
Anna Portch, manager of Sunnyside, said: ”What’s wonderful is that Alba has taken inspiration from plants and animals she has actually seen at Sunnyside over the past year.”
