A POLICE officer suffered a broken eye socket and a teenager was hospitalised with a head injury after a stop and search turned violent.
The injuries were sustained during a “brief struggle” that began when a 17-year-old suspect resisted a drugs search in Kingsgate Road, Kilburn, on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The Met’s professional conduct department have been alerted.
Scotland Yard said in a statement: “The subject of the search, a 17-year-old male, failed to cooperate with the officer’s requests during a stop and search and a brief struggle ensued which resulted in the officer sustaining a fractured eye socket and the subject sustaining a head injury.”
The teenager was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class-A drug, with intent to supply and obstructing a search.
A witness to the aftermath said: “I saw a black guy wrapped in foil who was unconscious and had blood on his face. There was a huge amount of police activity. There was about ten police cars.”
