A RABBI, an imam and a priest came together to hand out free meals to the public in Queen’s Crescent.

Rabbi Rebecca Birk from Finchley Synagogue in Barnet, St Martin’s Church’s Mother Carol Barrett Ford, and Imam Muhammed Bodrul Haque gave out the meals at Queen’s Crescent Community Centre (QCCA) on Thursday.

The QCCA has been giving out free evening “iftar” meals from its centre throughout the holy month of Ramadan that ended this weekend.

Due to high demand and popularity with all residents – the association estimates that 70 per cent of people taking the food were non-Muslim – service and is continuing as a nightly “Supper For All”.

QCCA’s CEO Foyezur Miah said: ‘Having three faith leaders come together here last night was an important reminder of the unity, love and peace that there is in our community. It was particularly good to have Rabbi Rebecca because we don’t have a synagogue on our doorstep in Gospel Oak, but we wanted the evening to bring everyone together.’

Last week, the centre gave away 1,171 meals.
