Storm Ellen strikes

A TREE blew over in high winds and crashed into a parked taxi. It fell at around 3pm in the car park of Fordcombe, Queen’s Crescent, last Friday.
Cab driver Paul Murphy said: “We have been on about the tree over the years and several neighbours have reported it. It grew sideways, and when it was windy, you could hear it creaking.”
High winds caused havoc on Friday as Storm Ellen struck. The council said it inspected the tree in April and “we found it to be in a good condition”.
