Teen pair star in North Midd’s seven-wicket win over rivals

Joe Cracknell and Luke Hollman starred for North Middlesex

LUKE Hollman and Joe Cracknell both played pivotal roles as North Middlesex recorded a seven-wicket victory over neighbouring rivals Hampstead on Saturday in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League.

Despite the efforts of opener George Adair, Hampstead were skittled out for just 171 runs within 50 overs at North Midd’s Park Road ground.

That was largely because they couldn’t halt Hollman, who took five wickets at the expense of just 32 runs in a devastating 13-over spell.

Adair top-scored for the visitors as he smashed 76 off 80 balls, including 13 fours, before being clean bowled by all-rounder Hollman, who also scored 35 with the bat as North Midd chased what was in truth a comfortable total.

When the 17-year-old, who lives in Tufnell Park, was caught by Adair off the bowling of Jamie Litherland, it was left to Cracknell and James Parslow to guide the home side to victory.

The pair formed an unbreakable partnership, with Parslow hitting a well-crafted half-century and Cracknell scoring 74 as Joel Hughes’ side eased to their winning score of 174-3 within 31 overs.

Hollman and Cracknell are certainly no strangers to success, having been part of the Middlesex team that beat Lancashire in the Under-17s Royal London County Cup final last summer.

On this occasion, however, it was all about league points, with their efforts helping North Midd get the 10 they needed to leapfrog Hampstead in the table, jumping into third place, 19 points behind leaders Richmond, and nine behind second place Ealing.
