The health workers pay offer is unjust

‘Islington Trades Union Council salutes our brave health workers’
To whom it may concern
Dear NHS workers…
• THIS government has just announced a low pay offer to over one million NHS workers of merely 3 per cent.
We note the Royal College of Nursing, Scotland, has already refused the 4 per cent offer made to them by the Scottish government.
We also note that several sections of NHS workers, for example, junior doctors, specialists, and doctors in training, have been excluded from receiving even the 3 per cent.
We note with astonishment that ministers say that the NHS must find £500million from within its own funding to contribute towards the pay offer, rather than be paid directly by the Treasury. This really beggars belief.
Islington Trades Union Council salutes our brave health workers.
We know you all deserve to be properly paid after 18 months of very hard work – including the current escalating third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. We agree with trade unions calling the offer “insulting” and, as the British Medical Association says, “callous and unjust”.
We pledge our whole-hearted support and solidarity if you refuse this “offer” and decide to take industrial action.
